ITCT Feliciano Scarpellini- Foligno- Italy
ITCT Feliciano Scarpellini is located in Foligno, Umbria , a very interesting area from the historic and naturalistic point of view , with a medium industrial development . In the last years its economy has changed passing from a structure based on the little and medium industry to an economic background based on tourism.
Foligno is placed between the two main cities of the region Perugia and Terni , near the Apennine and 60.000 inhabitants live here . This is an area well connected to the main routes of the country.
In the Institute we have four different courses: IGEA – Administration, Accounting and Economics – MERCURIO_ Computer Science – ITER , tourism – SIRIO – adult training . Students from a wide territory attend this Institute .
The problem of drop out is less serious than in other areas . In spite of this during the last five years the Institute has carried out many projects to prevent drop out and social exclusion.
Moreover in the school year 2005/2006 the formative offer of the school was widened offering to a
narrow number of students the possibility of alternating apprenticeship and formation. In addition
the staff of the school took part in a great number of transnational mobility projects whose
objectives were to find new solutions in preventing drop out and exclusion and to orient young
people in their future work.
ITCT Feliciano Scarpellini has been working on European cooperation for a long time because we
are certain that teacher and trainers have a very important task in building up the pillars of the
sense of belonging to Europe, a common space where we can all operate actively in reaching the same objectives. The school is a partner in this project.
Germany
Prälat-Diehl-School, Groß-Gerau, Germany
Prälat-Diehl-Schule is a grammar school attended by students belonging to forms 5 to 13. Preparing young people for their A-level exams and enabling them to study at university afterwards are the two main aims of the school. The school is located in a small town ( 23 000 citizens) in the Rhine-Main area. Groß-Gerau is the capital of the district. Most students come from surrounding villages to the school.
At Prälat-Diehl-Schule there is a strong emphasis on music. The school has a long experience with traditional student exchange with Nybro (Sweden), Apple Valley, Minnesota (USA), Saverne (France), Quito (Equador). The students have the opportunity to pass an official language certificate in French (DELF), English (Cambridge Certificate) and Spanish (Dele certification). All students have to participate on 2 vocational practices. Students of higher secondary school are offered various activities to prepare for their period after school and university: Candidate Training, vocational practice, university, companies of the region present themselves at school, information about groups of jobs presented by the labour agency at school, individual support concerning their career.
Some students participate in a competition called "business@school", which is carried out by an external institution. Students have to establish a virtual business. The experience and knowledge gained from this competition may be used for the project.
Children of immigrants will be involved in this project.
Finland
OMNIA – Finland
Omnia ( Finland) consists of Omnia Vocational College, Omnia Adult Education Centre, Omnia Apprenticeship Centre and Omnia Youth Workshops. Omnia provides upper secondary education leading to vocational qualifications. The total number of students is 10.000 and staff 700. International activities is one of the pinpoint areas of Omnia´s strategy, especially reciprocal work placements in international environment/mobility on European labour market, internationalization of students and staff, reciprocal benchmarking. InnoOmnia unit starts its activities autumn 2011, combining entrepreneurship directly with vocational studies. Omnia has been coordinator and sending/receiving partner in numerous European mobility and development projects already for over 10 years. - Omnia has also immigrant and refugee students also in the business study groups involved in this project.
Omnia is the coordinating organization of the Project.
